Latest Mods / Re: How to make a public/private downloads install« on: August 18, 2009, 09:31:09 pm »
The only options presented are "view downloads" under "permissions by membergroup".
I set the "Private" downloads category permission to guests & regular users denied, set "view downloads" to "allow" for guests and download category permissions for guests to "view downloads" and "add comments". There is a new usergroup with permissions to download files & make comments on the "private" category. The forum permissions are set globally with guest access to the private forum revoked and to the public forum permitted. Hopefully that is right, seems to work ok. gp 3

Latest Mods / How to make a public/private downloads install« on: August 18, 2009, 06:39:39 pm »
Hello,
I'm trying to set up the following: Forum "Public Downloads", category (downloads) "Public Forms", guest or registered user access to view and download files. Forum "Private Downloads", category (downloads) "Private Forms", specific group access with all others denied, able to view and download files. When I try and set this up two things happen. If I enable "view downloads" for guests when the downloads menu item shows up for non-logged in users in IE8 (it should not, does not show in Mozilla, etc. - bug?) they can browse the "Private" downloads. If I take the permission away they can't download any files. Any idea how I make this work? There are no category level permissions available to me in the Downloads Configuration...Category Permissions Admin area. I'm running 1.1.10 SMF gp 5
Latest Mods / Menu item for Download mod not appearing in non-standard template« on: August 18, 2009, 06:27:51 pm »
Hello all,
I'm using the Implied template from Crip and the downloads menu item (when copied from the mod generator/file) when clicked moves down about a half an inch and disables the logout menu item until you exit the downloads forum. I've installed it in 1.1.10 and the mod generator/code is for up to 1.1.3. I'ved tried to match the download code to the template code but no amount of editing allows me to do anything but totally hose the template until I put back the original or lightly I love SMF version (using the code inserted from the mod generator). Any idea how I can neaten the mod up? Shame the templates don't adhere to some kind of menuing standard, I had no idea there was even a download link until I went to the demo site. gp 6

Suggestions / RSVP - Event Feedback Mod« on: August 18, 2009, 06:19:45 pm »
I like the way the download mod is put together, was wondering if you gave any thought to calendar improvements namely an rsvp/event feedback mod for the calendar (like meetup.com, etc.).
There are many people who run events that are looking for something as simple as yes/maybe/no I can make an event, a way to get a roster of attendees (web or csv), to notify attendees of changes and to get feedback from the events in text or a poll (may be useful in a newsletter, etc.). With the calendar integration in SMF it's ahead of other forums, you have no idea how hard it is to find something as simple as this in any forum/CMS package. gp
