Support / Trying to install 8.0.5a after upgrade to RC2
« on: April 27, 2019, 11:43:05 pm »
I'm trying to reinstall my gallery after upgrading to RC2, but the package manager doesn't seem to be doing anything, and when I try to manually run galleryinstall.php I get an error:

Fatal error: Uncaught Error: Call to undefined function db_query() in /my_path/galleryinstall.php:32 Stack trace: #0 {main} thrown in /my_path/galleryinstall.php on line 32

I'm not certain the issue with package manager is confined to issues with the gallery; I just haven't tried to install anything else and probably won't for a while if at all.

I was using 8.0.4 before, but it won't reinstall emulating RC1 either.

As always, any help at all is appreciated. :)

Support / SMF 2.1 RCI & SMF Gallery Pro 8.04 500 Errors
« on: February 16, 2019, 01:45:43 am »
Hello!

I uninstalled an older version of SMF Gallery pro, updated to SMF 2.1 RC1, and purchased SMF Gallery Pro 8.04 yesterday.

I'm trying to install it now using package manager, but all I get is 500 errors.

I still have all the old folders (they're full of images) and I don't want to lose them, but I just can't get this new version to install.

Do I need to remove the old stuff first? If I do, will I be able to put them back into the new directories in ways that won't break the links to them that are on the forums?

Thanks in advance!

Site Discussion / I'm lost in the stacks here. :(
« on: April 25, 2016, 02:40:48 am »
I purchased the Gallery Pro, and overall I'm happy with it.  But I can't seem to figure out how to make it work quite the way I want it to. :(

I have a very busy international sewing forum.  I want to be able to give each member a public gallery, and a private gallery.  Two galleries per member, just for being an active member. I also want to limit the number of images in those galleries, so I don't have people uploading thousands of images - I'd say 25 images per person, per gallery.

I also want the "public" gallery to be viewable by other members, and the "private" gallery to be viewable by the owner and the admins  (so I don't have to worry about someone uploading something completely unacceptable).  I want these "private" galleries because I hold a yearly sewing contest, and I'd like the contestants to be able to upload the images of their creations without showing them off to other members 'til time for the contest to begin.  However, I do not want them to be used for storing dozens of rip-off embroidery designs or similar -we have very, very few people ever cause trouble, but one bad apple can cause total havoc. ;(

I also want to be able to set up member groups, and allow the members of those groups access to yet another, shared gallery.  That is, if I have a member group of 'bird watchers' then I want the users who join that group to be able upload images to the group gallery, again limited to a certain number per person.  I don't have unlimited resources, and I don't want dozens of old images cluttering up the place or using system resources.  In fact, ideally a gallery -and it's images- would self-delete after a member has been inactive for a year or so...unless I've decided to keep it for some reason...then I could just copy those images to another, more permanent gallery.

Are these things possible?

Bugs / Bulk Upload Bug
« on: March 20, 2016, 05:44:44 pm »
If you're using the bulk uploader (7.1), but fail to choose a category first, it complains, then wipes out all the upload fields so you're forced to start over.

Is there a way to fix that?

Feature Requests / How do I uninstall the demo gallery?
« on: March 13, 2016, 10:26:41 pm »
I've paid for the pro version, and am making backups of my site & database now.

What do I need to do to uninstall the demo version so I can install pro?

Presales for Products / Before I buy this...questions....
« on: April 17, 2015, 02:30:26 pm »
I'm debating this software, but I have questions, and am not sure how to search down the answers, so forgive me if they're redundant or have been answered a thousand time.

1) Am I going to have to reinstall this every time SMF updates the files that are affected?

I understand the purchase "includes a year of updates". After that year, if SMF is updated, do I need to purchase another year to keep this installed and updated?

2) Does the image resize feature keep the image aspect ratio?  Or at least display them in a proper aspect?  My forum members aren't very computer saavy for the most part, so they tend to upload HUGE pictures -which are then made wonky by the automatic resizing.

3) Is there a way to allow voting on a gallery, instead of an individual picture?  My forum holds a yearly sewing contest, and I want to be able to allow the contestants to upload all the images of their creations into an individual gallery, then allow the other members to vote on the collection of their choice (the voting will be for the collection, not an individual image or creation).

4) Can I prevent someone voting for their own image or gallery?

5) Other than watermarking, are there other ways to prevent member's images from being added to Pinterest or showing up on Google images without their permission?

6.... I'm sure I had another question, but now I don't remember what it was....

Thanks in advance for any help you can give me. :)
