Latest Mods / Another RSS Feed Post. Help Please

Okay, I installed this, went to CNN for a test RSS and was able to get it to feed as a post like I wanted it to.  Only problem is, is that it will display the title of the post correctly, but when you click on the post to read it there is a bunch of script instead of the article.  How do I correct this?
I am not sure how to use the Cron jobs thing, or even what they are so I clicked on the "use fake cron jobs"
I also asked my hosting site to make sure my fsockopen was enabled but they were no help
I wondered if I needed to be on port 80, but have no idea where to get there. 
If someone could please explain to me in elementary language how to do this I would be so grateful.

General SMF Forum / Help with installing Hacks/Mods

Hi, I am new to all of this so please bear with me as some of the questions I am asking are elementary to some of you.  I guess this is how you learn though so here I go.
First, I don't know the difference between a hack/mod.  Is there one?
Next. I was able to successfully add avatars to my forum.
I know how to downlaod a mod.  I go to dowload in my CP and upload the package that I had previously downloaded to my desktop.  Once it is uploaded, I install the files.  Everthing seems to go smooth, but then when it comes to using these mods, I am clueless.
I went to package parser and parsed some of the packages.  Do I have to do this?  Do I have to add the codes to the files before they will work?  If so, I need help with that.  I went into my hosting site and found some of the files, such as index.php.  Do I have to add the codes through my hosting sites CP file manager?  I can't find the codes that I am told to find anywhere.  For instance, I wanted to add gallery lite, but I think I need to add a button for that.  How do I do that?  Also, once I do that will gallery lite then all the sudden work?  Anyone who can walk me through this I would really appreciate it.
