Site Discussion / Re: Can't add new members to members gallery?

Thanks for the tips and he help.

I would rather have installed the latest stable, but it wouldn't let me in to that page for some reason. Keeps asking for a license then telling me that license has apready been used, LOL  I know that!!

I'll get this installed, then add the link to the profile for the gallery.  I think this will make it a much easier and more readily used gallery.

New question,

I downloaded beta 1.3, installing over Gallery Pro 1.2.  My SMF is 1.1.3

I uploaded the package, but it does not show an install option, nor does the gallery 1.2 show an uninstall optin unless I go to installed packages.

Do I uninstall 1.2, then then will the option for installation of 1.3 appear?  If I uninstall, will all existing images be lost?  Or do I manually overwrite all existing files wiht new ones?

I read the readme file, it only says uninstall gallery lite first, it does not specify to uninstall a previous pro version.  It does say to upload the packages to the forum then apply, but that option is not available to me.

Additional question, when I do a back up for the forum, does this also back up images in the gallery?  Is there an option to back up gallery images seperately from the forum?

Thanks for all you help, it is really appreciated, and we will always support your mods, they are great.

Thanks,

It still won't let me in to the latest stable, but I can get into the latest beta.  I guess I can work with that one.

Stable still does the same thing, tells me I'm not permitted, try to add license and it says it is already used.

OK,

What am I doing wrong now?

Entered under my correct user name, it still won't let me in, so I go to the licenses button, it shows the domain registered to my user name, and it makes me enter the domain and the license, then it gives me this message again:

This license '******************' has already been used!

   Is it me again?

I would be happy if the gallery.template.php with the users in tha main category section could be emailed to me, (if that is the only file that fixes the users gallery location).

If this can't be done, I understand... :-(

OK, I can wait,

Thanks for making that part of the change.  I'll get by for now, ig you saw my screen shot, I have a quick and easy access link at the top of the page for the members gallery.  I'll keep my eye open for the new release.

Yeah that is optional. Either you can show the link for personal galleries or not.

Cool,
I really appreciate that update.  Do I have to wait long, or was it an easy fix in the gallery.template file?  I was gone all morning so I still haven't had a chance to check it out.

Either way, I'll be waiting for it, :-)

Finished the user gallery link update for the next release. User Galleries are now their own category on gallery index which you can edit and move around.
Awesome!  Thank you so much...  The users won't be so buried now.

I'm one who will definately use that, but is it an optional choice? some people may not want a users gallery.  Deletable would be good for them, but for me that would be excellent!  I haven't had time to dig into the files yet to see about moving it on my own, and my PHP knowledge is little, though I'm working on it. :-)

Thank you,

Sorry if I missed that code in a previous post.  I fixed that and also put a null in place of the "Total Images" in the gallery.english.php so people aren't looking for a count.  It remove the Total images from the regular galleries which still shows the count, but I'll rely on peoples intuition to figure out what the number is there for.

I'm going in to see about moving the Users Gallery up on tha main page now (gallery.template.php), and see if I can figure that one out without causing a problem, in the mean time I have made my own navigation bar to assist in people finding the galleries easier, and it shows up on every page of the forum, not just in the gallery.  Here is a screen shot of the page, the added navigation bar is gold and directly under the regular navigation bar.

Thanks again for your help and support,
Dan

1. Subcategories picture totals currently only goes one level deep and is not currently for user galleries but that is something I will add support for in the next release.

2. User galleries I agree with just need a good idea of how to place them better because the link right now I feel does not place enough weight for them.

#1, then is there a way I can eliminate the image numbers until the release is out that supports counting sub category pics?  I could always save the gallery.php or which ever file it is and replace it later when it is supported. The option is in the admin control panel to count images in sub categories?  Don't understand why...

#2, can the users gallery be put into the same block with the general gallery categories?   This way the administrator could move the users to the top, or leave it right underneath the primary category depending on the weight the category plays in the scheme of he website and forum.

I have a mod that gives me a header and footer block where I add in links that my theme does not support, and I could put a link in there but then it would top every page of the forum.  Maybe this wouldn't be a bad thing, but I don't want to end up filling my header with a lot of distracting stuff.

Another possible option if there is a way to accomplish this, is there a way i can create a category under the primary gallery page, and create a redirect to the users gallery.  This way I can have 1 category called Gallery, and another called Members or Users galleries, and when clicked on, it will then redirect to the page that lists the users.

I need to figure out a fix for these glitches, I've had the forum active for only 3 weeks and have had over 3100 page hits just this week alone, and I want to open this up to a couple of groups I belong to, but I haven't yet because of this.

Thanks in advance for any tips that will work for now...

Addendeum...

If the sub category count cannot be corrected, then eliminating that count on the top level category would be equally acceptable.  People will assume there are images within that gallery.

Thanks again,
Dan

I have installed  gallery Pro 1.2.2 and we are making some test runs and so far there are 2 things that need attention...

   1) one of my users has created a category for her creative crafts, under that category she has created sub categories for gourds, dolls, wreaths, etc.  When you go to her personal gallery it shows images = 0, but when you enter her primary category her sub categories are showing images= 9, 1, 3, etc.  I do have the count images in sub categories turned on, but none are being counted.  I originally had it turned off, then turned it on, but even images she has added are not being counted.

Do you have a fix for this?  I line I can change or something, I did this for the bulk upload, and a line chage is not a problem for me.

2) I would like to display the users galleries more predominantly to encourage users to use this feature.  At present all of the public galleries are bold and clearly marked, and the poor users get this little tiny link that says, "view users galleries" which takes you to the list of users galleries.  Is it possible to bring this link up to the same block with the primary galleries on the Gallery home page.

You can see the issues if you like, I can send you the link to my members galleries...

Thank You,
Dano
