Support / Re: Some issues with adding and editing a listing
« on: October 02, 2019, 07:00:34 pm »
Guests can 't buy or bid on items.

For regular members and all non admin membergroups they need to have at least these two permissions
View Classifieds
Bid on Listing

Which you enable under Admin -> Permissions then modify each member group.
With that permission they can bid auction items, or buy it now items.
OK, thanks.  You say these two, but I don't want bidding so can I just select View Classifieds?

OK, maybe I didn't explain the issue clearly enough, so I'll try again.

Once a listing is put up in the classifieds section, how do visitors (registered members, guests) actually buy the item?  What setting do I have to enable for this to be possible?

Hi, I'm generally satisfied with the classifieds mod and thought I was set some time ago already, but I've just noticed a problem that needs to be resolved soon!

The problem is that if I state the email address associated with my PayPal account for the 'PayPal Address:' field and then submit the listing, or edit the listing and then submit it, the email address does not show; the listing is not updated accordingly.

Subsequently no buy-button or similar is showing either for other registered members or guests.  So the whole thing isn't working properly.  I've checked the settings, permissions, etc and all seems to be in order, so what to do?

Presales for Products / Re: Thinking of getting Ad Seller Pro as well
« on: July 28, 2019, 04:46:34 am »
OK, I was thinking that might be the case so I'll probably get Ad Seller Pro and then uninstall the Ad Management app.  Thanks for clearing that up!

Presales for Products / Thinking of getting Ad Seller Pro as well
« on: July 27, 2019, 03:34:40 pm »
I've already bought Message Editor Pro and SMF Classifieds which have worked without issue so far :) , and now I'm seriously thinking of adding Ad Seller Pro. However I already have the Ad Management system and am wondering if I would need both and also, if there would be any possible conflict in terms of available ad slots/places on pages?  Thanks if anyone can advise.

Ah, OK, got that.  I thought that only html could go there or php.  Thanks.

The name of ad is just for your reference You can have more that one ad in the same ad spot.

When you fill out the add ad page. That is just for one ad. So when adding content that is just for the one Ad you are adding.

For categories yes it is based on the category number. You can see that category number when viewing the link/url of the category it should have an id in it.
Okay, many thanks for clearing that up.  By the way, is there a dummy ad-code anywhere on smfhacks that I could use for the content field just for testing purposes?

I have some questions about the Ad Management mod, sorry if these seem like silly questions. ::)
Under 'Ad Ads' you have the 'Name' field and if you click on the ? mark you are presented with 'This is the name that you will give your ads.' Does this mean one ad or more than one ad?  Because 'ads' suggests more than one ad, right?

For the 'Content' field, if you click on the ? mark you get 'This section is for placing your ad code.'  I assume this is for just one ad, right?

For the 'Display ads after categories' field, how do I specify the category?  By number or by URL?  Sorry, but this is not obvious, especially as my categories are not numbered as such, could be wrong.

Is there an option that allows comments without approval?  I looked everywhere in the classifieds control panel, but all I can find is the default option of allowing comments if approved under COMMENT APPROVAL.  Thanks if anyone can help.

General SMF Forum / Re: About using chmod to secure files
« on: June 05, 2019, 04:02:28 am »
OK, many thanks for the pointer and sorry for late reply, only I'm between forums (smfhacks and the official smf one) and a whole lot of other things...

I've found out how to do it using cPanel by clicking on the icon for the required folder or file and selecting permissions from the pop-up menu.  A table then comes-up showing me the chmod settings for that folder or file.  Almost invariably files are set to 644 and folders to 755 by default - people on the official forum have told me what I should change them to.  Anyway, thanks for your help  :)

Many thanks.  So I would use 644 or 755 permissions?  Can you elaborate on this more?  How does the syntax go?
As to you saying 'use chmod or file manager on linux', do you mean the file manager under cpanel?

As I understand it, I should use chmod to secure my files, but how exactly does this work?  What is the syntax, etc and which files do I secure?

I assume it's all files under public_html but not sure which directory to be honest.  I have a shared hosting acct with greyweb (great people) and am familiar with cpanel and so on, but I have little linux/unix experience.  All help greatly appreciated.

Support / Re: About Watermark Options
« on: May 30, 2019, 05:25:39 pm »
I meant that I checked the one and only image that I added to the example listing after enabling the watermark text.  The watermark wasn't showing, but it was showing on a second image that I uploaded or added.  This is simply how it was, OK.
Anyway, I've just deleted the original image and then simply re-uploaded it and the watermark is now showing, so now everything's fine.
