Support / Layout?

Is it just me, or is the layout setup the wrong way round?

When a user views the files, he is presented with a screen which gives the File title, image, views, downloads etc etc..... And then when he clicks on a file he gets the description etc....

Surely the first screen should show the File Title, Description and filesize - Then show the rest of the bumph when he clicks on the File Title?

Most people want to know what the file is FIRST and how big it is - Hence show the File Title and Description plus filesize - The rest of the info, which most users aren't interested in, can then be displayed when he clicks on the filename/title....

I'd be interested in other peoples comments on this, as I think it's illogical?

When in the Admin section and clicking on FTP, it lists the download path twice at the top of the screen.....

Bugs / Image attachment problem

I've tried and tried to get an image to attach to a file in Downloads Pro, but the image is never shown.... It's an image that is less than 40Kb, so it should be fine - No error is generated, it's just that the image is never shown, and I cannot find it stored anywhere when I check the directories.

The file was uploaded using FTP and I then edited the upload to attach the image, mybe a bug if the file was FTP'd??

This is using Downloads Pro v1.0.1

Has anyone else had a problem with attached images?

I can add files to Download Pro perfectly, but if I attempt to attach an image, I get the following error....

You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near 'LIMIT 1' at line 4
File: /home/xxxx/public_html/smf/Sources/Subs-Post.php
Line: 1895

I've attached my Subs-Post.php file to look at...

Everything else on the forum works fine, so I don't understand why Downloads Pro generates this error - Any suggestions?

Bugs / FTP Importing

I've just done a quick test to try the FTP import feature.... A couple of minor problems....

#1. An error was reported "Failed to import", even though the files WERE imported succesfully!

#2. I've set things up so that a message is posted when a new file is uploaded, but the subject heading was ignored, and instead the filename was used as the subject.

#3. It would be nice to have an option to DISABLE upload messages when uploading via FTP - I have over 800 files to import, none of which are new as I'm simply transfering them from MKPortal, so I don't really want 800 plus messages being generated!

Feature Requests / Default images?

I know Download Pro can display image files associated with a download, but how about having a few default images built into the program?

I have a large number of PDF and ZIP files - So a default image for a ZIP or RAR archive etc would be nice, the same for a PDF file, and maybe expand it so that videos also had a default image as well, rather than just displaying a filename?

Again I hope that makes sense?

Support / Question?

When setting up Downloads Pro, we have Group permissions and file area permissions - Which one takes priority?

Lets assume we have a group called "Members" who have permission to download, and a file area called "Photos" which doesn't allow "Members" to download - What happens?

And in the reverse situation, the group "Members" DON'T have permission to download, but the file area "Photos" ALLOWS "Members" to download - What then?

I just want to be sure I have everything setup correctly before going live.....

In the "Settings" page of Downloads Pro, the second option says "Max Download Filesize" - It should say "Max Upload Filesize", as it supposedly is the maximum size for a file to be uploaded!

Is anyone considering doing an importer to transfer files from the MKPortal downloads manager into Downloads Pro?

It would certainly save me a HUGE amount of work!!

Bugs / Permissions

Not sure if this is really a bug or a feature request, but I'm sure the post will be moved if necessary....

When setting up Downloads Pro, it doesn't list any of the "post count based groups" I have setup within SMF..... I use post count based groups heavily on my forum, and I'd like to setup things so that users cannot download until they have made a few posts. If I simply choose "Regular Users" as a group that is allowed to download, then everyone can grab files without posting a single message.....

I hope that's clear?

Presales for Products / mod_security

Before I go ahead and purchase the new Downloads Pro, is it gauranteed that it will work with the mod_security directive enabled? My host will not turn it off!

I'm happy to do minor changes if necessary, but would need help and guidance on what to change if this was necessary.....

I don't want to end up with yet another piece of software that won't work unless major portions are rewritten - So I hope you'll understand I'm asking? A couple of programmers have been happy to sell me software in the past, but then the support to cure these issues vanishes once they have my hard-earned cash!

I don't for one minute count you as one of those programmers that would do that, but I want to be clear before purchasing.

Not a bug in the software (or at least I don't think it is?) but I went to take a look at the screenshots on the new Downloads System Pro page, and each one just gives an annoying advert for some phone company's ringtones - So I cannot view the screenshots to see how it looks

Feature Requests / Member Galleries

Instead of the rather quirky idea of the user having to click on "MyGallery" to create a gallery, could it be changed so that as soon as they clicked on "Member Galleries" a gallery was automatically created for them, and their username automatically used as the gallery name?

At the moment, my users don't have a clue how to do it, so I have to explain it each time!

They can also call their user gallery anything they want - It would be much better if it automatically used their username, they can then create sub-directories off that if they wish....

I hope that's clear? Any comments would be welcomed - I cannot be the only one who thinks the initial creation of a user gallery is very unfriendly, especially for those that aren't computer literate!
