Videos and server resources?

If I upload a 400mb video to my server via ftp, will that use a lot of my server resources when viewing the video via the gallery, compared to uploading the video to YouTube and putting the YouTube link in the gallery instead?

Youtube will be the best option for large videos. In terms of playback experience.
