Upon initial testing...

THAT WORKED!

I get a lag of up to 30 seconds between giving the alert and receiving it on the other account... well within reasonable expectation.

Awesome!!!  I will also update my post over on SMF.  When asked, I didn't specifically mention this mod as the problem child but it was mentioned as one of my installed mods throughout the post... I think it would be of benefit to the mods exposure to let folks know it's fixed and working awesome...

As for the UNRATED alert... does that make sense?  If so,  I'm guessing it wouldn't be too difficult to implement (copy paste to the right location I suspect... but I do freely admit I really don't know WTF I am talking about so there is always that.)

;)

Unrating not sure if that makes sense. Other than maybe deleting the old alert? Just have to make sure that doesn't cause an issue.
Like what happens right now if you are unquoted or un mentioned does an alert happen if you edit a post.

No rating for unquoting or unmentioning.

My counter to that argument is that unrating happens most likely due to clicking the wrong rating.  So the process would be RATING... oops wrong rating... UNRATING... then RATING a different rating.

With the alerts you'd see two ratings for the same thread rather than a rating...an unrating... then a different rating.

AGAIN... minor stuff here and in no way a necessity... but that is how the other rating mod I used for 2.0.x handled things (but it too allowed for multiple ratings so there is that).

But, would you get a mention for unrated? I can see deleting the alert.

Correct.  You would get an alert for say rating something AWESOME.  You'd then get an alert that AWESOME was unrated (I believe the image was a circle with line through it) then you'd get an alert for say HILARIOUS (or whatever).

I'm not sure if you CAN remove an alert BTW... plus,  what about those who have already gotten it?
