Questions about SMF Gallery Pro Folders and Gallery URL
« on: January 03, 2022, 12:34:08 am »
SORRY! CAN YOU MOVE THIS TO GALLERY SUPPORT? I'm Sorry, I posted it here by mistake.

Good Day,

I have a couple questions to better understand how SMF Gallery Pro works so I don't screw anything up.

QUESTION #1

I see multiple references being made here to the "Gallery" folder however, in addition to the original "Gallery" folder,  my installation of SMF Gallery Pro has created additional Gallery folders Named a follows:

Gallery
Gallery0
Gallery1
Gallery2
Gallery3
Gallerycatimages
Galleryftp
Galleryimport

I know the Galleryimport folder is tied to the Batch Add Path variable where you place a bunch of images to import them in bulk.  What are the other folders or and what should their file permissions be set to?

QUESTION #2:

I see there's a setting in the gallery settings area called: "Gallery url". Currently it's set to the Gallery folder under my SMF installation (https://www.sonomacountydsa.org/forums/gallery). When I got to this link, all I get is the following message:

Quote
Are you trying to look at the pictures of this forum???

I don't believe this is the expected behavior but rather it's suppose to take me to the Gallery like the SMF Gallery menu button does, but it doesn't. I'm having problems uploading my pictures to my Gallery which I posted about here:

Could this be related?

Thank you for your time.

Gallery 0,1,2,3 to x Those number folders appear if you have the "Enable multiple folders for picture storage" setting enabled. Stores every 1000 pictures in it's own folder.

Gallery cat images - stores images for category level icons
Gallery ftp - used for batch add feature in the admin area
Gallery import - used for the import picture feature. Batch add is the better version of the two more options

#2 Not related that is the normal way that is displayed that folder all the uploads and we do not want people browsing that directory publicly. I should probably have it redirect to index.php?action=gallery

Thank you for the info sir!!!

For those reading this, I asked the below question and received the attached answer in case it might help you.

Question: I would like all my images in one gallery folder not in multiple folders. Can the multiple folder setting be changed back and the files moved without having to redo the entire uploads or am I stuck?

Answer:With multiple folders you would be stuck. You can turn off the multiple folder setting so new ones would go back the main folder. But old ones would remain where they are.

Happy New Year,
