Question on Completed Listing & Reserve Price
« on: May 30, 2023, 12:18:06 am »
Hello, I have a question on Reserve Prices and when an auction is completed please.

As I see it, the scriopt will complete (so basically end) an auction with a reserve price once it is met.

Is this correct?

If yes, how can this be changed?

On eBay for example an auction will continue until the time has ended so that a seller may well receive bids above his reserve price.

Thank you

That shouldn't be the case if it is an auction it, it should go to the end date/time and not stop once it hits the reserve price.

Hello, thank you for your reply. It seems that once a reserve gets met, it will change the status of the auction to "2" which is completed.

Then it will no longer be possible to place a bid.

I think it should only be marked as completed if an auction has received bids and met the reseve and the listing time has run out.

I have not worked on the source file but assume that the code for changing a listing status is contained within there. So far I have only worked on the frontend / template file.

So I assume this is a possible bug?

What settings in the admin area do you a have enabled?

I did a test one with 7 days expiring didn't automatically complete. I bid exactly the reverse price and set a buy it now price.

I have these settings enabled
Auto accept bid when auction ends
Auto delete when listing completed
Auto delete when auction completed

Hello, thank you. I will give it a try with your settings. Could you please explain what those do mean?

- Status Completed? (In opposite to closed)
- Auto delete? Where is it deleted from? From displaying in categories or from the database?

Thank you very much

I did use your settings and it helped. Thank you.

Now when the reserve is met the bidding still continues.

Once a bid reached the buy out price the listing was changed to completed and bdding buttons where removed. I think this also makes sense.

also I think thel listing got removed from teh categories index / pages which makes sense.

However I think that the listing should then also be marked a closed? Or does closed mean that a listing ends but without successfull bids?

I think that if an auction is set to completed, the auction time left should be set to 0? This would make sense in my oppinion but maybe I am missing something?

Completed would be sale went though/bid was successful.  Closed I believe would be expired no bids/no sale
Auto delete?  - from the categories where the listing is posted. They should then go to the recycle bin in the classifieds section

Do you remember what settings you changed?

Hello, I did not have the auto delete enabled.

So wouldn't it make sense to change time left to 0 once the status turns to completed? I think this would be a logical code change then.

How long do the items stay in the recycle bin and how can the recycle bin get accessed? I can not find it anywhere.

Thank you

For recycle bin
action=classifieds;sa=recyclebin
Should be under the main category list but I guess might depend on the view?

I believe they stay there till you delete it permanently.
