Version 6.1.6 issues

Hi VB,

I uploaded this to my site yesterday and the permissions stopped working. I had to revert to 6.1.5.

Just to make sure I wasn't imagining it. I've just installed 6.1.6 on my test site and set it up OK. I created a Cat and put a download in it.

I then set the cat permissions and the SMF permissions. No matter what I did my test member could not see the download created.

So in order to see if it was the new version or not I uninstalled 6.1.6 and installed 6.1.5, which I should add has never been installed on this test site, nor had the 6.1.6.

After installing the older version. I logged in as my test member and was able to see the download  without any issue.

So there must be bug with 6.1.6 somewhere

I'm sorry VB but I don't understand about the custom edits. Where does it mention about doing those? I've looked in the readme.txt file and there's no mention of it there.

Now I remember about that, but you did say

Quick overview on permissions and how it works in this setup.
download admins always have full access.
The global permissions under admin -> permissions must be set to allowed in order for users to get access via category level permissions.

If no category level permission is setup access is assumed allowed!  If any category permissions setup in the category then you must grant each group access via category level permissions. An allowed in any membergroup overrides a deny

this is what I didn't do as I thought you were, as the first line in the quote says, "update the permissions code in all my mods to use this same logic".

I will now apply the code as you said in that post.
