Failed to open stream: File name too long
« on: June 20, 2024, 12:50:21 am »
I am getting a new error now in SMF 2.1.4, Apache 2.4 , PHP 8.2.20 and Pretty-Urls 4.0.1. Each time an error cause by PrettyURL's long URL's, the website fails and I need to run PrettyURL's Maintenance and all is back to normal until the next time.
Error is in a different place since I replaced the JS.php file. What can I do now?

Temp uncheck use cache instead of database option in pretty urls.

Long term fix need to look into the length of the pretty url.... for subject surprised it hit a linux file length limit.

Turning off Pretty URLs cache and using database entries for cache worked, well sort of... I did not get the error again but a strange thing happened. I attempted to "
Modify" a post and I could not edit the post, the screen area went blank. I tried several times then I turned Pretty URLs cache back on and I could modify the post... So I went back and turn on the Pretty URLs cache and I could edit the post again.

I do have to run Pretty URLs "Maintenance" occasionally for the Pretty URLs stop working until I run Maintenance.

Update 4.1
!Strip PHPSessionID from cache title when using the cache option instead of database

No, install was done on a clean system (Always test before going live). I searched the download install for the stated line and it was not found in the SMF 2.1.4 download install (News.php)
