SMF Gallery not working
« on: August 05, 2007, 08:04:47 am »
Hi,

I received the following error:

I set image resize to auto.

All the images that are of a larger size are not able to be uploaded.

However, when I try to upload using Gallery2, the images can be uploaded. Please advice.

I have checked. I can uplaod the same picture as my avatar set to auto resize.

However I cannot do it with SMF Gallery.

Please help. Because I would need it quite urgently.

Thanks.

I would try to increase the php memory size.

The thumbnail creation is currently using SMF's built into thumbnail function

The bulk uploads is also not able to resize and upload at the same time.

Hmm, at this point can I give a suggestion? Is it possible for there to be a function where the user uploads in a ".zip" or ".rar" format. The photos are "zip" inside the file.

The title of the picture is the name of the picture. Auto-resize is prefered.

Do you think it is possible?

Zip is possible might put some strain on the server to extract that information. Would have to decompress the zip extract the images then process each one.

I would try to increase the php memory size.

The thumbnail creation is currently using SMF's built into thumbnail function

So you would suggest that I ask my host to increase the memory space? Or is it the coming version of the function increase php memory size?

For the zip + resize, could you please include it into the next version please?

After much try and error and talking to my friends, I feel/understand that the make-or-break for any photo gallery is how easy a user can upload, not really all the fancy functions. So, if ppl were to upload more than 1 picture, it would be alot easier for them to just upload a zip file of photos. Also, then we can partially replace the cumbersome bulk upload?

I might rewrite my own thumbnail function for the next release of the gallery and have an option to either use SMF's or my code for thumbnail creation.

For zip file support I will see if I can include that not sure if a custom php module is required in order to support that function.
