Help with install please... searched forums

I swear I searched and found similar questions but none that exactly fit.

I recently installed SMF forums. Went great.

I followed simple directions for installed the Gallery Lite mod. Everything seemed to go fine. Showed files installed great and everything. Plus, I'm using the default theme on SMF Forums.

I wasn't able to see the Gallery button anywhere, on any of the themes, and the direct link posted in HELP that should take me to my gallery (http://myscrapbookmania.com/?action=gallery) takes me instead to the home page of the web site.

I checked through FTP to see where the files installed. The install created a directory in my forum/ directory named "gallery" with only a placeholder.txt file inside. Looks like it put gallery.template.php in the forum/Packages/Themes/default folder, too. The original Package zip file is now in the forum/Packages folder.

So, I asked my webhost to make the Gallery directory writable (isn't that the CHMOD thing I keep seeing?) and they've done that. Still no gallery button, no gallery that I can find anywhere.

What am I doing wrong?

Seems like the mod did not install. I would check to make sure that all of the SMF files are writable. When installed you should have Gallery Configuration link inside your admin section.
