Add gallery to menu of new theme

I would like to modify a theme to have a link for the gallery like I have in the default themes.

How would I go about doing this?

You would need to modify the index.template.php of the custom  theme to add a link/button to the gallery page. Must themes have a menu function that you can a button/link to.
