bulk import / import from folders on web server
« on: February 15, 2008, 07:29:44 am »
I am currently using coppermine, however there are no user galleries and on the web server I basically have one folder per gallery (around 90 galleries in total) ... from the SMF Gallery pro description it sounds like I can import the pictures from those folders (there are hardly any comments so I am not worried about loosing those) ...

the question is, would I have to import folder by folder or is there a batch function that would let me load several folders into several galleries or even better create galleries from folders?
Tell me and I will forget
Show me and I might remember
But involve me and I will understand!

There are two options for importing pictures.

First there is the basic import gallery function you would need to create the categories first then on the category itself there is an import pictures function which will load pictures from a specific folder and import if they meet the gallery’s height, width, filesize requirements.

The second option is the batch ftp option where you would upload all the folders and pictures to the gallery/ftp/ folder. Then you can browse the folders using the gallery and select which category to import the pictures into folder by folder. This is more of an advanced import option except you can not specify the folder path and still does only folder by folder. But allows you to import them into personal galleries, select which pictures you want to import, decide whether to go back the gallery size restrictions, and what name to poster the pictures under.
