Sort images
« on: November 10, 2006, 01:59:22 am »
Is there a way (in either lite or pro version of Gallery) to sort images?

Thanks,
Christof

Currently there is no feature to sort images

chronological ... oldest to youngest. Just the other way round than now. I want to add more pictures to a "slideshow", but now the show starts with the last picture.

It would be nice to have different options for the order of images:  for example by filename, by date of upload, both with an option of ascendant or descendant order.

By the way, is the original filename stored somewhere?

Thanks,
Christof

The orginal filename of the uploaded image is not stored. The database contains the filename of the full size image and the thumbnail filename.

Thanks for information. I think it would be good to have a reference to the original file stored in the database, if that's not too difficult to implement.

I could do that but what purpose would it have? Other than taking up space.

For example: Sometime people may want to order the high resolution file of a photo. For example, sometimes I am working together with a graphic designer who would select an image from a gallery for printing in a magazin. He would just have to send the file name by PM / Email and I'll send him the high resolution JPEG or TIFF by Email from my local computer.

Of course it would be even better to be able to store an image in different sizes (view size / print size) ... but I'm sure that would be much more work to implement.
