Menu items missing on a default SMF install

Hi,

I have just installed SMF 1.1.4 from fresh and not changed a thing.
I then purchased, and installed SMF Classifieds.
Install worked ok. I got onto the initial setup page.
I noticed that the menu items on the left hand side (still using the default SMF theme) were missing.
I have just tried installing the SMF Trader to see if that enables it to work. - still no menu options. Even the SMF Trader menu is missing as well!

If i go into permissions, they are all blank for SMF Classifieds also.

Can you give me a pointer please? Thank you kindly.

Most likely a language file issue.

If you are just using english. Goto Admin -> Server Settings ->
Under language make sure it is just set to English and not English-utf8


If you are using a language other than English you need to copy the language strings from themes/default/languages/modifications.english.php to themes/default/languages/modifications.yourlanguage.php

Fixed. It was as you first suggested. My forum as default is was set to English UTF8. I've set it to just English and it works fine now.

Hello. I am having the same issue. I do change my language options to "english" and it works great, but when I log out and come back in the classifieds link is gone even though "english" is selected as the language. Do you know what may cause this?

There are two spots for language I believe one under Admin -> Server Settings

And another under a member's profile.

The Server Settings controls the default language for the forum though
