Selecting total amount images on thumbnailpage

Hello,

Although I searched the whole forum I didn't find the right question 

Is it possible to ad a drop down menu for selecting the amount of thumbnails visible on 1 page? See the picture below:

64
Per page.

It would depend on the amount of horizontal images.
We're using 4. So 8, 16, 32, 64 etc.. is perfect for me.
