Writable problem

Hey hacks saw this issue on another thread marked solved so did not want to reopen that one

Moved to new server and notice this problem

Warning Gallery path is not writable! /home/melin4/public_html/penpal-community/gallery/

For Sources it is /home/myuser/public_html/penpal-community/Sources

So I thought could that one trailing / in gallery be the problem but when I took it out and made it  /home/myuser/public_html/penpal-community/gallery still did not work.  Any ideas?

ok update went tand changed permissions of the gallery.template file to 755 thought that was it didn't work.  I have doubled checked and Sources is exactly the same way as gallery like this

/home/myuser/public_html/penpal-community/gallery/
/home/myuser/public_html/penpal-community/Sources/

Still not writable

Problem solved had to change permissions on "gallery" file from 755 to 777.  Is that normal and ok to have permission a 777?
