image size problem
« on: December 09, 2006, 01:15:27 pm »
I like this gallery, simple and easy to use good job.

I do have one question though.

I have upload some rather large images from my digital camera, which work fine after I set the max file width and height to 0.  and left the file size at 5mb.  The thumbnail shows fine, but when I look at the full image it is extremly large and hard to view.  I do not want to resize before uploading the image, and was hoping this would resize the image for me.  am I missing something or is there some way to resize the full image after upload to a max size like 800 width?

I went a reset the image width and height to 800 X 800 and then click the box the resize if image is two large, and this seemed to work except the resized image is a very bad negative looking image. ?

So I guess it resized it the way I wanted it to, except it messed up the image durring the resize.

Has anyone had this problem? I did see this post, http://www.smfhacks.com/index.php?topic=222.0
but I'm not getting an error.  It does the resize but the image ends up with funky colors.

Currently for the thumbnails. I am assuming you are running SMF 1.1 RC3 or higher is using SMF's built in image resizing function.

Are both images appearing bad? Ie the thumbnail and resizied full image?

yes, they are both bad.  When I didn't have it resize pictures that were two big it created the thumbnail file perfectly, it was when I told it to resize images that were two big, that the thumbnail and resized image apear like a negative.

I have also given guest members the ability to view the gallery, so you can check it out.  http://www.burgerfamily.net/forum

I'm also running 1.1 the newest version

Hmm, I am going to try later tonight coming up with a new resizing function and I will use the pictures on your forum for a test.

PHP version: 4.4.4
MySQL version: 4.0.27-standard

I'm having the exact same issue as cb49747.  No resize produces nice thumbs and pics.  Resize produces negative-colored thumbs and pics.

Here is the GD Info:

Forum version: SMF 1.1 RC3 (more detailed)
Current SMF version: SMF 1.1
PHP version: 4.4.4
MySQL version: 5.0.24a-standard-log
Server version: Apache/1.3.37
GD version: bundled (2.0.28 compatible)

yes it's me who posted this, actually there is no error as you say but this problem with color depth insists and for my gallery is serious (many user photo uploads), so I have no choice than switching back to coppermine which has no problem with my GD Version: bundled (2.0.28 compatible)... :-\

I have fix for this.

Redownload SMF Gallery Pro and Copy Gallery.php from the zip file to Sources Folder on your forum.

Hi,

I installed today the SMF Gallery Pro and i have a resizing problem.

My setup is pixelsize 600x600 and file size 160000 but after upload the file is still large more then 500000.

see below the credits.

Version Information:
Forum version: SMF 1.1.1 (more detailed)
Current SMF version: SMF 1.1.1
PHP version: 4.4.4
MySQL version: 4.1.21-standard
Server version: Apache/1.3.37 (Unix) mod_auth_passthrough/1.8 mod_log_bytes/1.2 mod_bwlimited/1.4 FrontPage/5.0.2.2635.SR1.2 mod_ssl/2.8.28 OpenSSL/0.9.7a PHP-CGI/0.1b
GD version: bundled (2.0.28 compatible)

what do i have to change to get this working, otherwise the webspace is shrinking to fast.

regards,
Dennis

How are the files being uploaded? Though the normal add picture method?

Is there any error when a file is larger than the max filesize?
