Item sold ..
« on: February 13, 2009, 05:29:31 pm »
now how does a person delete that item? My users are asking me left and right once an item sells how they delete that one item without touching any of their other listings.  I do see while I'm logged in admin mode how to delete listings but when I log in with the same permissions as the users that can add a listing, I do not see the same delete button. How does a user delete a listing that has been sold?

Thanks in advance Hack, you software does really great so far and is loved by the members. I would recommend your software to others anytime.

Currently only listings that can be deleted by users are ones that have zero bids on the listings.

Are you working on an update to fix this? If something is sold it should go away. How does it work now Hacks? Does it go the full time that the admin sets the listings to run or is it up to the admin to go in and delete them after they get told it needs to be removed? I'm lost and if there is a thread just copy and paste but I've had about 15 or so multiple items and I've gone in and deleted but I thought for sure something would be in place to do this.

Right now all sold listings remain the category. Only the listings that have expire dates and if the delete if expired option is enabled are deleted.

I could add an option to make it disappear if sold once the bid is accepted for auctions.  My worry is it would keep the classifieds empty, loose the search engine rankings, and lastly confuse the buyer, bidders and seller if the listing could not be found anymore

I see one problem with this and that is the Admin then becomes responsible for removing all of the completed listings. When you have hundreds of listings this becomes an issue. I don't have time with everything else going on in the site to go thru hundreds of listings looking for completed ones.

Can it be made an option if you want them deleted or not, OR can't they just be automatically moved to the recycle bin and give members access to that. It would make it much easier. It doesn't bother me that members use the recycled Bin to see completed listings. It actually still shows them that there are sales

I had made a suggestion months ago to have the copmpleted listings move to the sellers Completed section. Like the tab "My Listings", Have one for Completed Listings and when a listing is completed have it automatically move to that tab (Just like Ebay or any other auction/Classifieds place does)

Just suggestions!!

Thanks!

I don't mind deleting them for now as I only have 20 or so using the system. I can see where it would be a burden for those who have 50 or more using the classifieds. Thanks for the answer Hacks, keep up the great work!
