Layout?

Is it just me, or is the layout setup the wrong way round?

When a user views the files, he is presented with a screen which gives the File title, image, views, downloads etc etc..... And then when he clicks on a file he gets the description etc....

Surely the first screen should show the File Title, Description and filesize - Then show the rest of the bumph when he clicks on the File Title?

Most people want to know what the file is FIRST and how big it is - Hence show the File Title and Description plus filesize - The rest of the info, which most users aren't interested in, can then be displayed when he clicks on the filename/title....

I'd be interested in other peoples comments on this, as I think it's illogical?

Oh, not forgetting images if they are attached to a download of course!

So the first screen should show - Filename/title, description, image (if one is attached), and filesize....


That would be a much more logical way of showing things to users.

I like image first myself. It just depends on what types of files you put in your downloads.

I am sorta partial to the old TP layout myself, you have short description under the title.

Just depends on what your doing I guess. I dont know that any layout would make all of us happy.

How about then some options to be defined in the settings as to what is displayed on the main page. Like the choices for ratings, comments etc

Personally, for me the description is the most important thing to be seen on the initial page, which i would love to see under the title, with perhaps a toggle on/off option to try and keep more of the people happy more of the time  options are our friends

It does allow you to select which items are listed, it even allows for custom items.

It does? Perhaps i am looking in the wrong spot then. How can i get it set to show description on the primary listing page?

whoops I was mistaken, I was confusing the category listing with the layout settings.

If you goto the main settings and click Layout you have a few options of what to show on the category listings. I don't see Description in that list though.
