Allow Add Category for non admins member groups

Is there any way to allow "normal" membergroups to add categories? We run a forum for a small club of less than 100 members. When a trip is organised I'd like members to be able to create sub-categories for the trip in the main gallery rather than in 12 user galleries.

Not at this time. Maybe a separate gallery permission to allow creation of categories. Would the users be able to edit/delete the categories?

My concern with this is users could just add random categories to the gallery which is why it is currently limited to gallery admin's.

A separate gallery permission would be great for me perhaps even the choice to allow only creation of sub-categories in specific categories. For instance "Trips Photos" might allow this but "Inland Sites" wouldnt since we only dive in half a dozen inland places.

I understand your concern about users creating random categories willy nilly but in a closed group like ours its less of an issue.
