Settings issue

In settings if I activate "Generate medium size images" all current pics show red X when icon is clicked on. If I click on the black image the full size image comes up ok. These pics are in the Member Galleries folder.
Pics will show again if I deactive "Genrate medium size images"
 How to fix?

Added a fill existence check to hopefully fix that issue. If medium isn't found reverts to fullsize.

This is still an issue. See attached. With "Generate medium size images" active this red X is shown
