Pictures show as red crosses
« on: May 28, 2010, 03:15:22 pm »
Hi,

HOpe someone can help me.  All of a sudden images uploaded in my Forum Gallery only show up as red crosses.

All the old images show normal, only new uploads.  I have not updated or made any changes in my forum.

Does anyone know what could be the problem here.

My Forum version is SMF 1.1.11

Gallery version Your Version: 2.5.6

I have not ugraded my Gallery till now as it was working great.

First thing I would check is your forum's error log. Upload a picture and then check your forum error log.
Also if you have a link to a page with the broken image it would be helpful too

Hi

Thank you for replying.

Sorry for not thinking of including a link.

http://annspaperart.ch/forum/index.php?action=gallery;sa=view;id=2017

I checked the forum maintanence for errors, and no errors found

I emptied the forum error log, and then uploaded the image you see above and got the following error messages

It looks like a permission issue on the gallery folder where it couldn't make a new folder/directory. Since you are using multifolder storage option
Make a new directory inside the gallery folder called 2 and make sure it is writable also double check on the file permissions on the gallery folder itself to prevent this from happening again.

Also would suggest to upgrade the gallery if you get a chance

Thanks......

Doesn't work .

I have no idea what is going on, but permission is denied. I can't make changes in the gallery, nor can I make a new directory :(

If you have a control panel or ftp see if you can change permissions on the folder using that.

That's what I mean.

It's not allowing me to make changes in the ftp panel :(  We tried changing permissions but won't allow them, and if I try to make a new gallery folder,it also say permission denied.   :(  The Gallery is the only thing at this stage on my websites that is doing this :(

Hmm sounds like you may need to put in a support request with your host if you can't change the file permissions. I would try contacting them and see if they can fix it.

Hi Ann,

How is your disk space on the server? I had errors like that and these where caused by an disk space limit from my host (100% used). After deleting some 'overhead' it was possible to let it function again.

Hope this will help you....

Vincent  :-*.

Thank you both for your answers.

I will have to contact my host ,as something really doenst seem to be okay here :(

Thanks Vincent, I didn't think of that possibility.  I will check my disk space, even though I did try and upload a picture in a photogallery that I have on my Server, and this worked.

HI Vincent,

I checked my diskspace and it's only half used , so can't be that.

I tried to delete one of the cards with the red cross and now got this message....... :(

Feels terrible not to know what that below means.....lol

You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near 'LIMIT 1' at line 4
File: /home/www/web277/html/forum/Sources/Gallery.php
Line: 4615

Note: It appears that your database may require an upgrade. Your forum's files are currently at version SMF 1.1.11, while your database is at version 1.1.7. The above error might possibly go away if you execute the latest version of upgrade.php.

First I would work on contacting your host to get the gallery folder working. For the second error I would advise upgrading to the latest version of the gallery since it was probably a bug in an older release.

One more thing

If I try to create a new folder "2" I get the following error message ftp

Command:   MKD 2
Response:   550 2: Permission denied

Changing the permission doesn't work either.....it won't let me.

Maybe someone has another idea, and otherwise i have to wait till Monday to contact my host.

thank you for your help
