Re: SMF Links: Lost Tab
« Reply #1 on: March 09, 2007, 02:19:48 pm »
I installed SMF Links, and everything looks peachy-keen. I set up six or so categories, and then discover that regular registered members do not see the button in the menu bar.

I can see the tab just fine while logged in as Admin, but when I log-out and back in as a registered member, the "Links" tab is missing in action.

And I wondered why I wasn't getting any submissions.

Does anyone have a clue what's happening here? I even uninstalled this mod, dropped all of the tables in the database, and reinstalled it again, with the same result. I'm using the latest version in SMF 1.1.2

thanks,

Rich

You need to set the permissions for each member group.

Admin -> Permissions -> Modify each group and give them the links permissions that you want for each group.

Yep, I did that. I set guests to view only and gave everyone else full permissions.

Using the default theme?

Using the default theme?

Yes, I reset everyone to SMF Core. I'd hoped to get that where I wanted it and then to work on the Dilber MC theme, which has received great approval in the past.

I'm working on a pretty fresh build, no errors other than incorrect log-ins, and banned spam domains, the stuff that should show up in the error log.

We're also running Simple Blog, which is working again. I was surprised to see that it's no longer under development, I just installed what I thought was a compatable version last week.

Richmedia -

It sounds like you set the permissions in the "Configure Links" section - where you gave guest the right to view and everyone else the right to do everything.

You also need to go to the bottom of the admin section and select "Permissions" (just plain ole vanilla permissions) and modify each group.  There's a new links section in there with about 9 or 10 different rights pertaining to the links section.

I did the exact same thing as you and was about to say very bad words when I sort of stumbled on the solution.  ;D
