Thumbnail directory
« on: December 10, 2010, 05:29:25 am »
Hi

Is there anyway to store thumbnails in a different directory?

Our "main" website uses  wordpress and the NextGen gallery plugin. I'd like to display images from our Gallery Pro gallery. However as the thumbs and actual pictures are in the same directory for Gallery Pro I'm ending up with thumbnails of thumbnails.

I realise I could use the SSI function to do this directly but if possible I'd rather stick with the standard NextGen widgets if possible. I don't administrate the main site on a day to day basis and would rather not have any special code in it if possible. I could get the main site admins to manually exclude the thumbnail images but with 4300 or so images this would be a large task that would need to be repeated evertime new images are added to the forum via Gallery Pro.

I realise this might not be possible but would be greatful for any ideas,

The only way right now is you have to edit the source to generate thumbnails/medium images into seperate folders.

On upload potentially three files are made:
Original file
Thumbnail with prefix of thumb_
And medium image with prefix of medium_

Now that would take care of uploaded pictures but existing pictures you would have to move as well. Then update their thumbnail path, medium image path in the database to go the thumbs folder
