Check secondary membergroup for category permissions?
« on: November 17, 2011, 07:35:21 am »
Currently the category permissions only look at the primary membergroups.  Would there be an option to have it check both primary AND secondary for a specific membergroup to allow access?  We have one membergroup that is always set as a secondary and want to be able to have a specific category for that group only.

Currently, we are just using membergroup pricing and setting the "public" price at $9999.99 and the membergroup price at the actual item price.  That has been working for a year but I still get questions as to why the "item is so expensive" from non-members of that group.

You want to hide the categories from view if the user does not have the allowed permission in their membergroup?
Can you show me an example of your membergroup structure/category permissions thanks.

Yes, we have a certain membergroup that we want to offer products to only, and it's unfortunately set as a secondary membergroup.

The secondary group is our "Official Members" and we have to place it secondary so that it works with our ranking system and the stars shown for each group.

When I last tried to set it up, I gave only "Official Members" access to the category but when I tested with a test account it only worked if "Official Members" was the primary membergroup.  Unfortunately, the way I have things set up, I cannot move "Official Members" to be a primary group or it won't work with our system setup.

Our membergroup system is pretty complex because we use it for not only forum membergrouping, but for the actual organization itself.
