Question about First Topic badge and First Post badge

If a member has no posts, but starts a topic, do they get both the first topic badge and the first post badge?

I'm finding that members are getting both awards when a new topic is started. Is there a way to differentiate between the two, so that you get the first post badge only if you've actually made a post other than a topic?

Not easily. You would have to change from using $user_info['posts'] to doing a query that gets count of all posts other than topics started by the member
