Creating a button on navagation
« on: April 07, 2007, 08:36:36 am »
Hello, I have read through several strings on how to apply a button/link in the navagation bar for SMF. However I am quite confused yet. Let me warn you ahead of time, I am very very new at this. Just started only 3 days ago in fact. (I am not new to xml, html, java- just php. So I am slowly learning my way around.)

In the topic, "SOLVED* Gallery Button" it states I have to add in that string in the language.php. I however cannot fund this anywhere. I am not even sure if it is the right thing for me to do.

What I am using:
SMF Gallery Lite.
Leviathan theme, with the navagation menu along the top.

The gallery has been installed, I am able to go to that link and into the gallery and there is the link in the admin section. So I have configured and tested out the Gallery with no problems. I just do not have a navagation link for my members to be able to go there.

Any help or tips would be so helpfull. Thank you in advance!

Peace,
Sarrene'

Attach your index.template.php of your theme and I can add the link to the gallery.

Oh, thank you for the very fast reply! I was not expecting it so soon, expecialy since it is fairly early in the morning.

I was in the process of copying the file so I could attatch for you, when I had one of those dumb ideas. Apparently it was a mistake in my php.

I did manage to get it to work though and seems there is no problems. I did find out what was causing it not to show up though. I had modified some other areas, minor as they were, and it was causing the button not to be displayed. A simple change in the php i modified got it working for me!

I guess this is all a part of learning something new. Once more, sorry for the false alarm, I did not realy think I could get it working, im shocked! But stranger things have happened, somewhere, i am sure. :)

Once more thank you for the reply and im sorry for the false alarm. On that note, thank you also for the gallery! We shall have to see how it works out, and from what I am thinking, it might be something we keep. And if so, we are looking at the pro version. :)

Peace,
Sarrene

I am using a modified version of Blocs Levi theme. I realy like it a lot as well as the versitiliy. I just changes some of the graphics to fit more inline to what we do. :D I think one of the reasions I like Blocs so much is the ability to change the colour of the theme, with out loosing the over all look of the forum.

Peace,
Sarrene'
