Listing Prices - setting limits
« on: January 27, 2013, 09:29:45 am »
I've just installed Classifieds and trying to set it up. I'm just using it for simple classifieds, fixed price offers, no bids, group buys etc.

  • Can I set a limit on the price something is offered? I want to make listings free for items below £300 but charge a fee if the item is offered for more.
  • How do I make listings free for one group and charge for another? I set up a category with free listings for one membergroup and added an "Other Membergroup Price" for another group but during testing both groups were able to place listings for free
  • How do I integrate with my existing Forums. I'm aware I can integrate the Classifieds at the bottom of my forum index. My problem is I currently have a Classifieds forum and a Spotted On the Web forum under the forum category of buying and selling. Ideally I'd like the Classifieds Listing to replace the Classifieds forum.

Thanks for your help.

1. Not at the moment.
2. Think I have that fixed with the latest update.
3. So looking to move the placement on the main board index? If so that would require a custom change to your boardindex.tempalate.php

1. Thanks - I can work around it for now by using approvals
2. I'm uninstalling and installing the update today. Will let you know how I get on.
3. Happy to make the edits to my boardindex.template.php if you tell me what and where.

Just installed Classifieds 2.0.19. Whilst it does present the message,

"Listing Credit for Bits and Pieces (Non-AMOC Member)
You are ordering a listing credit for the "Bits and Pieces (Non-AMOC Member)" category for the cost of £27.00. The listing credit can be used to create listings in that category only."

Proceeding to order credits presents a blank page. I altered the code in classifieds.template.php so that every instance of:
Code: [Select]
'<form action="https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr" method="post">') . '
to

Code: [Select]
'<form action="https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr" method="post" target="_blank">') . '
And now that works.

I also figured out that the way to allow one group a free or lower price is to create the Category with a price and then add lower or zero prices for other groups rather than the other way around.

Now, if you can just show me how to place the classifieds listing in the board index in a forum category...

I'd really appreciate some guidance on placing Classifieds on my board index as part of an SMF category.

Attach your boardindex.template.php and let me know what category id you want it after.

OK. Thanks.

I actually want it within the SMF Category if possible.

The Category ID is 7

The Board ID's within that are 4 and 67. What I want to do is replace Board ID 4 with the Classifieds Listing.

The alternative would be to add Board ID 67 to the end of the Classified Categories.

Edit: Actually, looking at Classifieds as integrated the ideal would be if I could include Board ID 67 as the last category in Classifieds and place it after SMF Category 5

The two trees were added as feature one at top and one at bottom for easier navigation.

Ah that makes sense. Especially once the list is longer. Glad to know it wasn't me doing edits to my custom template?

Attached the boardindex.template.php
This should add code right before category =7

Thanks. I see there's a new update. Does this affect theme files or just source files?

I've tested this and it works great> However, looking at it I think it would look better after SMF category 7, is that something simple I can do?

Yes just category == 7 to the next category or move the code to the end of the loop before }
