Bulk import creating categories?

I'm moving in a bunch of pics with folder structures.  It seems obvious that the bulk add feature doesn't dig into folders as it is now.  Is there any way to make that happen?  I'd prefer to create categories based on the folder name but I'd be ok with it just dumping everything into a single category.

We do not at the moment have an option to autocreate folders/categories based on uploaded files/script.

Two options for bulk uploading a large amount of files.

Option 1: (Recommended)
First you can use the bulk uploader under each category
Be sure to turn on this setting in your gallery admin area first
"Use multiple file uploader for bulk uploads"
This will allow you to select multiple files at one time to upload and makes the process faster

Option 2:
In the admin area there is a batch add area but requires all images/folders to be uploaded to the gallery/ftp/ folder.
Again it only imports files to existing category and does it only one folder level at a time.
