"Re-install" SMF Gallery Pro version 4.0.9?
« on: February 13, 2013, 01:29:55 pm »
As per my question here (http://www.smfhacks.com/index.php/topic,7447.0.html) we are in a situation where we need to restore smf to using all the core files, effectively removing all installed packages and mods. We have SMF Gallery Pro 4.0.9 installed and wish to continue to use it.

The way it will be done is:

1. Download the large upgrade archive for the version of SMF
2. Upload everything EXCEPT UPGRADE.PHP, overwriting what's there

The database will still contain all the SMF Gallery Pro tables - not deleting those.

I'm in doubt how to re-install the SMF Gallery Pro from there? I mean all the code files will be gone but the database tables still there. Any instructions?  :)

Thank you in advance.

/G

1 and 2 is right.

Just then install using the package manager and it is all set.

Thank you.

But won't the package manager see it as installed already? I mean, the package manager reads from the database that it should be installed even though it isn't after the "reset".

Will I be able to install it again, or will the package manager complain that it's already installed? Is it better to uninstall it from the package manager after "resetting" the smf files and then re-install (will the database tables be left untouched, or will they be overwritten this way)?

If you do the large upgrade that is wiping your files clean just delete as being installed under installed packages.

Okay, so:

Under "Installed Packages" I have the option to "Uninstall" SMF Gallery Pro. Is his what you mean?

After un-installation I would then just install the "SMF Gallery Pro 4.0.9a"package again and it will automatically connect to the database tables already there?

Yes try that. That should do it and it will auto connect to the database.
