not using <p>

I would prefer to use <br> instead , reading back on previous post I found their is a way to do it, can you please update my managenews please. (attached)

I did try to copy from your post  "<p> in messages" but didn't seem to work, here are my 2 attachemnts

no still have the <p> 
the reason why I don't wont it is because it leaves too much of a gap (carriage returns) in between paragraphs, if there is another way around it, I will be happy with that
