Facebook Not Reading links
« on: June 03, 2013, 10:55:59 am »
Whenever I try to link a direct classified post to Facebook it redirects the viewer to the index (forum)...how can I correct this so that the actual link to the classifieds listing is posted and clickable on Facebook ?

OK I'm lost now...do I do this in the script or you mean each and every single time I post to facebook I need to change that ?
I'd much rather have it inside the script itself because my members will also be posting links to Facebook

Yeah I can change it the links or direct link codes.

The issue is Facebook does not support the ; separator that SMF uses in the urls.

Ok 2 things

One... are you saying each and everytime I post a link to facebook I have to do that manually ?
Because it kinda defeats the entire purpose. It cant be expected for the members to remember to do that each and every single time either. How can I adjust this within the coding itself so Facebook reads the correct page for the link ?

And secondly...the way the code is implemented, if you have an image before the text it shows like this which is really ugly. What can I do about that as well ?

Depends where are you getting the link from? The address bar?

The image in the bbc part would be tricky would have to strip it out some how for the Facebook description

I thought this was resolved 1.5 years ago: http://www.smfhacks.com/index.php/topic,4995.0.html
In my forum it works as it should.

I dont know if I should open a new topic for this...

I just installed SMF Classifieds 3.0.2 (I was using 2.something) and I tried the Facebook share. In Facebook, the title and the image of the share is of the first page of my forum. The link is correct though.
