CSS wrapper for gallery?

I was looking at the template files and they are somewhat complex so instead of fumbling arround I'd figured I'd ask here: Is there an easy way to add a wrapper around the gallery to make it easier to target with CSS?

Basically to make it so that any time the gallery is being shown it is preceded by <div id="gallery"> and followed by </div>.

Probably not since the css styles are tied to SMF's css and would most likely override the wrapper.

That's the whole point. For example you could then target the gallery specifically with a style like

#gallery .cat_bar {}

which would modify the gallery's .cat_bar but not the rest of the forum.

Might be possible with the template above and below functions what SMF version were thinking of using?
