Store 2.5b1a observations and questions

Good morning all,

I came to SMF Store at 2.5b1 and upgraded to b1a the following day, so some of these observations may be known already, so please forgive any duplication  

1. I noticed that in Category view and looking at a page full of items, all the prices are correct. In the item view the price is always missing the last zero. For examle  12.50GBP will be displayed as 12.5GBP etc. That's not a biggy and I can live with it. Thought it might make a relevant "nice to have" on any future versions  

2. Would it be possible - or indeed is it possible? - to insert HTML into an item description and in Customised Pages? I ask as I want to put some external code into some areas, such as my AuctionNudge.com Ebay score rating and so on. I can do that in normal forum posts using the html tag in square brackets. Again, a "nice to have" if it were ever possible/desirable/wise  

3. I created a store category only viewable by myself and Global Mods, and gave it the 'User Store' privilege for that member group. They get the "Add Item" link when in that category, but when they click on it they are told they cannot manage the store. Is that correct, or did I misunderstand what privilege I need to set?

4. Would there be a way to set the default currency? Again, it's no biggy for me to select for each individual item, but occasionally I forget (because my gray cells seem to be getting grayer!). It's only a "nice to have" because I use Store to sell pre-owned items, so they're one-offs rather than something I carry all the time.

5. Can I make Store more prominent in my forum? The link is in the menu bar, but I kind of feel the need to make it stand out. I'm guessing I just need to shout about it more in my forum posts, but would be interested in anyone else's methods of promotion.

6. There is no number six  

SMF Store is awesome, and I'm immensely pleased with it. I'm so grateful that you wrote it and opted to sell the license at a very accessible price. I hope you remind me annually to re-license for updates so I don't miss anything cool you add in the future  

By the way, the new weight-based shipping options work superbly well and I've found easy ways to work with it for my exact requirements for a mix of Mail and Courier delivery methods

1. Will look into that and try to see why it would be different on that page. I should be using the same function everywhere for currency display.
Edit fixed for 2.5 final. Updated formatting of GBP

2. Pages can probably allow it since that is admin allowed. Product descriptions only issue would be to worry about user store members since they could inject html code into descriptions as well.


4. I will look into adding an option for this. Will make it into SMF Store 2.5 final.

5. Hmm. Maybe products at the top of your main forum like latest products block or something we do have an SSI mod which I could improve or include some kind header addon to add products/random products to the top of your forums.

2. Unfortunately not  I can make a forum post with the [ html ] tag and see the content, but in the Customized pages only the code is reproduced. No biggy, but a nice to have it were ever possible. I only want to use it in Pages not listings, for the reasons you mention.

6. I found a number 6  In Transactions, I hide a transaction after it's shipped to keep the screen uncluttered. But then I can no longer find it with search. I entered a known-correct email address and searched, no results. I then tried the correct name, and again no results. Is there another way I can find a hidden transaction?

I found another bug  Sorry about that 

A member who has User Store privilege can access his stuff in the 'My Products' link and see all his stuff and any revenue generated. That's cool. But if he has enough products that it spreads to two pages, then clicking the '2' link results in a message "An Error Has Occurred!" and beneath that  "You are not allowed to manage store."

This isn't worrisome for my store as anyone given User Store rights isn't running a business. Just thought you might like the report for future reference.

Sold three things, so SMF Store has now paid for itself
