Is there any way of adding a side column in SMF which would allow for some images to be previewed, like the newest/latest posts, etc?

Well if you use my portal called ezPortal you can make a sidebar column which has the option to show latest images.

Is the www.ezportal.com kind of a demo of what that does? It seems to be but just want to confirm.

Yes it is. You can enable/disable columns and have a homepage or not.

Looks kind of like a wrapper, where you wrap SMF into this portal. I'll check it out, thanks.
