I want guests to be able to view the gallery, but not post.

I have a category set up with guest set to view, and the other permissions turned off.

Log out  of the forum, and I can't see the gallery without logging in again.

What am I missing?

Under admin, general permissions, I have View SMF Gallery checked, as well.

Can they see the gallery tab at all? If so that is most likely a issue with the category permission setup.
If they can't see the gallery tab it is an issue with the admin -> permissions for guests.

They see the gallery tab on the menu at the top, but clicking on it gets them a login prompt.  Not throwing any errors in any logs.

Ok so they can't see the main gallery itself at all. Recheck permissions in the admin  -> permissions then modify guests. Make sure they have the "View Gallery" permission under SMF Gallery. Other thing you can try is clearing the cache in Admin -> Maintenance but this shouldn't be an issue.

Yes, they have "view gallery" in admin/permissions.

Do you have a link you can send me. I have never seen this occur before.
Did you change any of the gallery code itself? Or installed any other mods that might interfere with it?

If I remove and reinstall the gallerypro package, all photos and categories would remain intact?

Yes all galleries and data will remain intact.

Thanks for your help.  In the end it was a corrupted file (well reinstall the package helped) and a permission issue as you suspected.

Removed and reinstalled the GalleryPro package, then:

Turned on "allow guests to browse the forum"
Turned off guest view on all boards.

Now they can see the gallery, and not the forum as I'd intended.
