Upgrading from Lite to Pro
« on: February 09, 2015, 03:16:27 pm »
Based on what I've been reading, if I currently have the lite version installed and I uninstall Lite and then install Pro, the Pro version will pick up the pre-existing photos, etc., from the Lite version, so that nothing is lost in the upgrade?

Am I understanding this correctly?

The reason that I ask is that I currently have the lite version installed, but I just bought the Pro version and want to know what to expect when I do the upgrade from lite to pro.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Yes that is correct. Uninstall the old version then install pro. All data is kept and is not removed.

I just attempted to uninstall the lite version and ran into error messages:

Error in Package Installation
At least one error was encountered during a test installation of this package. It is strongly recommended that you do not continue with installation unless you know what you are doing, and have made a backup very recently. This error may be caused by a conflict between the package you're trying to install and another package you have already installed, an error in the package, a package which requires another package that you don't have installed yet, or a package designed for another version of SMF.

Running SMF 2.0.9

I have also attached a screenshot for more info.

Please note that this error was encountered while trying to remove the lite version of the gallery, not while trying to install the Pro Version. I have not yet attempted to install the Pro version, per your recommendations.

Please advise. Thanks

Proceed with the uninstall.
Then install the pro edition.

After installed attached your Sources/Admin.php and Sources/ManagePermissions.php file.

Thanks.

I uploaded them and now I have this text at the top of my Admin area:

// Begin SMF Gallery $txt['whoall_gallery'] = 'In the Gallery'; // END SMF Gallery Strings

The text in the admin area is also very large now. See the attached screenshot, please.

Open themes/default/languages/who.english.php
Find
Code: [Select]
?>
And move it all the way to the end of the file.

Did the trick! Thanks.

Now, one more question.

When I upload a photo, it resizes it within the gallery, but if I use the BB code to place the image in a forum post, the image is huge (full sized). Is there a way to have the gallery resize the photo completely, so it doesn't display huge when using the BB code?

Hmm this is the sharing link from the view picture page right? Might have to add another setting to allow to choose which one.

Hi, yes. It's the BB code under the photo. Please see attachment.

Also, if I click the Facebook Share button under an image, I get an error message on the next screen, which I have also attached. The error happens if I click the Facebook share button or if I click the Addthis share button in the gallery and then choose Facebook.

I tried the Facebook share button on other sites and even on this site itself, apart from the Gallery, and it works with no errors.

Can you help with this, since it seems to be related directly to the gallery?

Thanks again.

The facebook error would permissions make sure guests have access to view the gallery otherwise that error would appear.

Thanks. I checked and confirmed that guests already had permissions to view the gallery.

Any other ideas?

Thank you
