Interested in purchasing Gallery Pro

Hi there!

We run a rather huge forum that has been upgraded from SMF1.1.X to SMF 2.0.11 recently. We had some rather ancient modifications and most of them has been successfully replaced or updated, except one mod. Obviously, it's the gallery system that is actually the oldest mod that is still running on our forum. To be on the point, we're still using the ancient SMF Gallery 2.0.5 (from 2009), the predecessor of the Aeva Media mod...

The gallery became very important for various stuff over the past years, and it is about time to get a new one. So, I am interested to purchase the SMF Gallery Pro.

I lurked over the demo gallery and I do like what I see. However, I just have some questions about it.

• I guess, there is no SMF Gallery 2.0.5 to SMF Gallery Pro converter? If so, I guess, I have to temporarily install Aeva Media and then run the upgrade to the Gallery Pro, right?
• I am very interested how the converter will convert the albums. Does the converter distinguish between general album and user album? The reason why I ask this is that I try to avoid resorting around 400 user albums.
• Are regular members able to create their own album and subalbums, use passwords and define the access level to their own stuff?
• In various screenshots, I see there is a "My Gallery" button. Does it list up user's own albums? (For example, I own 20+ albums and I want to be sure to keep them together, same also for our members, of course)
• Does this Gallery supports also document files such as .doc, .docx, .pdf, .xml etc?
• Is there a kind of admin demo available?
• And finally, would it be ok to install the Gallery on a test site (a mirror of our production site) for testing purposes?

Sorry for asking so much, but I want to make sure what I am going to buy.

1. There is no SMF media gallery converter but we do have an Aeva Media converter.


2.  Yes it looks for high level categories and makes them main categories in SMF. Other categories are kept as user created galleries

3. Yes if they have the "Personal Gallery" permission they can create their own mini gallery.    For permissions the only options is for the whole user gallery itself which can be private invite only, or password procted.

4.  Yes. The MyGallery is the user's own mini gallery where they can their own categories to store the images.

5.  No it does not support document files. Only pictures/videos.  I do have a download system which can support that type of media.

6. Yes there is I sent you a pm with the information for the admin demo.

7. Yes that is ok.

5. mp3/ogg is supported. Just make sure it is listed in Audio/Video settings int he gallery under "Filetypes allowed: "

The bulk upload (multi-upload) apparently uses a flash-based uploader on the demo site. Are there any plans/ways to see/get a non-flash version in a future update? We are trying to minimize the use of flash on our sites for some reasons. This is not very important as long as the flash uploader is the lastest version (not so ancient like the Aeva Media one), but it would be really cool to have an alternative for it somehow.

Eventually yes we will be replacing it with hopefully an html5 based version.

That would be really awesome! I'd patiently wait for a future update with a non-flash massuploader.

It will be a while though for now since kind of waiting for SMF 2.1 before major changes.
