Permissions DownloadsPro4.1.8a
« on: November 13, 2016, 07:53:12 am »
I am using DownloadsPro4.1.8a in SMF 2.012
I am not able to set permissions correctly.
I know that the main member permissions are at a higher level than category permissions.

What I am trying to do is to have different permissions for different categories, so a guest can download from one category but not another.

To do this I give guests the main permission to view and download files.
Then in the category I don't want them to download from I choose download file "denied".
But guests can still download from this category even though it is "denied".

Am I doing something wrong?

Thanks for your advice.

Did a quick test on SMF 2.0 seems to be working ok.

Are these files in a subcategory? If so you would have to do permissions on that category as well.

Thank you for the reply.

If I set it up like your screenshot so that guests are to be denied a download, but at the same time in the main member permissions for guests to be allowed a download, then files in this category CAN be downloaded by guests.

From what I understand guests should not be able to download files from this category in these circumstances.

I have tried this on a test site as well as my main site and get the same result.

I can stop guests downloading altogether from the main member permissions area, but then of course I cannot let them download from any of the categories at all.

Not sure why my site is working differently to yours.

Best wishes.

For the benefit of anyone else who might have the same issue as me.

I investigated my site further and my problem was caused by having users in more than one member group and the main permissions there conflicting. Downloads Pro works exactly as it should.

Thanks for your help.
