Cannot select category
« on: January 14, 2018, 06:11:47 pm »
I used to have a paid license for SMF Gallery Pro...and I let it lapse because I just wasn't using it enough. Well...not I may have a use for it, but one thing is stopping me from seeing that.

I setup a category where people can upload to, but for the regular users, they cannot see this category unless I check "Admin Gallery" in the permissions.

Any suggestions? What did I do wrong?

For the record, this is NOT their own personal gallery, this is a completely separate gallery created for everyone to contribute to. I've done it before, and I can see those galleries...but not this one.

My test account I use to check things has full permissions for View, Add Picture, Edit own Picture, Delete Own Picture, Add Comment, Add Video/Audio, and View Image Detail...yet it still will not show this specific category until I select "Admin Gallery" for my test account in permissions.

Click on the permissions link next to the category and make sure there is no category level permission set for that memebergroup

In case you need to see them...I've added images to this post. One is the General Permissions in the Admin Backend, the other is the Category Permissions.

Only my Admin & Global Moderator accounts can add images, because they have the "Admin Gallery" ticked. The Test Account, Guest, and Regular Members cannot post because they don't have the "Admin Gallery" ticked in permissions. If I do select that...then and only then can they add an image, and I'm definitely not willing to do that.

I just don't get what went wrong. I've made other categories before and they work just fine & you can add images to them from the Test account & Regular Member accounts. Just not this "Submissions" category I created.

And you have the latest version of the gallery installed?

Is that category in a subcategory?

Yes and Yes

Just to be safe...I went ahead & deleted the sub-category "SUBMISSIONS" and re-made it and manually assigned permissions (shown below).

I also deleted all permissions for the main category and re-assigned them manually...as shown below too.

Still having the same problem even on the "test" account which has all permissions open.

So the issue is you have a main category then the sub category under it.
Members can't see the subcategory from the main index nor the when visit inside the main category is that correct?

No...they can see the main category & all subcategories just fine...but the one single category they can add an image into, it will not allow them to add an image to that specific category.

Is that category a subcategory or a top level category?

Not sure what that means...

If you follow this link: https://www.ariesgamesandminis.com/forum/index.php?action=gallery

That will take you to the gallery. The one in question is the "Battletech Color Compendium Online", and the sub-category is "SUBMISSIONS". The Submissions sub-category is the one where people submit their images for review and I later move them to a correct listing ellsewhere in the Battletech Color Compendium.

Keep in mind, you cannot add images as a guest on my gallery though.

"Battletech Color Compendium Online" has a deny permission on regular members. I think that is what is stopping the permission from the SUBMISSIONS category

Nope...that doesn't seem to be the issue as my test account has add permissions enabled and I still cannot add a picture. Just the admin & global mod because we have admin gallery enabled.

Correct, and I tried changing it to allow, but it still didn't work, and I pointed out that the "Test" account listed also has allowed and it too doesn't work.

Ok...so something is definitely wrong. I just created a BCCO Test gallery, assigned permissions as needed, moved all the sub galleries into it, and it still won't allow me to add a picture as my TEST account so that means regular members won't be able too!

What is going on here? WIll I need to give you some global mod permissions (almost all the same permissions as the admin) to poke around?
