Rotating Image URLs
« on: August 05, 2019, 12:17:55 pm »
Anyway to cause the ad image URL to change randomly in order to prevent ad blocking?

Thanks

You can use a custom php ad code.
Put inside either a list of differnet image urls then rotate via that way.

Well I'm not sure how to do that but if it's a list, then it can still be blocked, right?

Yeah each one would have to be blocked. If someone is going to do that though you probably won't get any ad revenue from them anyway.

That's not really the point for my site. The ads are shown to all non-contributing members. It's amazing how many will pay to have them removed, so keeping them visible is a good thing. Add on ad blockers will easily remove them if the image URL stays constant though.

I don't write much code but it seems as though it might not be that difficult to have the url "made up" each time a page load is done but still load from one location. But IDK

The url for the image itself. I can periodically change the folder the ad graphic images are in but it's a pita.

I would do something with mod_rewrite and create a dynamic image filesnames/folders names.
