Attachment images Upsidedown or Sideways
« on: August 18, 2020, 02:40:02 pm »
Many of the attachment photos are displayed upside down or side ways in the user's post but clicking on the link they are right side up.

Is there a fix for this or is it related to how their holding their phone?

example: http://www.arimaowners.com/index.php?topic=19247.25#lastPost

go to post #29.

Thanks in advance!

There was a mod at one point that rotates the image based on the exif information in the photo if it is a jpeg information to fix the orientation

This is a really annoying issue with my gallery too. Some images are sideways while others are right side up. Any fix for this? (pics below)

It's based on the picture orientation. There is a rotate feature if you edit the picture.
You can rotate based on x number of degrees. Try rotating by 90 degrees

We could do it automatically based on EXIF information just requires the php extension exif to be installed.

Ok that worked i didn't see the rotate part first time. But that can be a pain if I bulk upload and have to go back in and edit to rotate each one. I tried adjusting the size of image allowed but that didnt help either. What would be the correct orientation for the image? Or how can we install the php extension EXIF?

I would have to add a setting to automatically do so. if you can send over a couple example pictures that are flipped can do that for testing.

EXIF might be complied already in your php. You can check under Admin --> Gallery Configuration -> Settings -> EXIF it if is not installed it will say something.

Looks like "Enable EXIF on Display" was unchecked so do I need to put a check there and then what? Here are two images that keep flipping...

No you don't need to check. Have to see if there is exif data then add a setting to auto rotate.

See attached file in first post in this topic:

https://www.smfhacks.com/index.php/topic,9539.msg41642.html#msg41642

The Gallery settings determine last stable version (8.0.8 ) only, because 9.0 version is still in beta state.
